Knoxville, TN (July 19, 2021) – Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, a scratch kitchen restaurant and steakhouse offering exceptional wood-grilled dishes with bold flavors and seasonal ingredients, will open Monday, August 2, at West Town Crossings, 7727 Kingston Pike in Knoxville. Situated along Interstates 40/75, Firebirds is located across from West Town Mall and next to Tennessee Highway Patrol Headquarters. The contemporary-polished restaurant is known for its hand-cut aged steaks, fresh seafood, chicken, ribs and half-pound burgers prepared over an open flame.

THE MENU

The Firebirds menu provides a variety of selections, including its signature Aged Ribeye, Filet Mignon, Wood Grilled Salmon, half-pound Burgers, Grilled Shrimp & Strawberry Salad, Lobster Spinach Queso and Creme Brulée Cheesecake. Many of Firebirds’ dishes are created using fresh seasonal ingredients. Gluten-sensitive menu items, such as Grilled Tenderloin Salad, Wood Grilled Salmon and Parmesan Mashed Potatoes, are also available.

The Kids Menu offers an array of items and is certified by the National Restaurant Association’s Kids LiveWell program. The menu is specially designed with educationally fun puzzles and messaging that focuses on sharing values for a better world.

Firebirds’ new Knoxville restaurant features an energetic design concept and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Firebirds participates in Lemonade Days June 11-13

Charlotte, N.C. (June 9, 2021) — Lemonade is always a refreshing choice this time of year. It’s even more delicious when it’s prepared with a special cause in mind. From Friday, June 11 through Sunday, June 13, visit Firebirds Wood Fired Grill and buy a cup of its freshly squeezed lemonade from the old-fashioned lemonade stand outside and Firebirds will donate all proceeds from the sale to finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Firebirds marks its seventh year of participation in this annual event, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s (ALSF) national Lemonade Days, by setting a fundraising goal of $150,000, with each of the restaurant’s 52 locations in 19 states participating in the three-day event.

In addition to lemonade sales, Firebirds will donate $2 from each purchase of Tito’s Lemonade Drop and $1 from each purchase of its Big Daddy Lemon Cake during Lemonade Days. Guests can also round up their check to the nearest dollar and ALSF will receive the difference or make a donation to ALSF directly on their receipt.

“Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is one of ALSF’s most dedicated partners, raising money year-round to help fund research and treatments,” said Liz Scott, ALSF’s co-executive director and mother to ALSF founder, Alex Scott. “We couldn’t be prouder of its executive team and all of its volunteers at every Firebirds location across the country for their commitment to eradicate childhood cancer.”

Classic American Restaurant Opens Second Metro Atlanta Location Jan. 14

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Firebirds’ summer dessert feature, the Big Daddy Lemon Cake, will be donated to childhood cancer research.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill sets three-day fundraising goal of $100K

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 5, 2018) – Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is inviting communities nationwide to join them in the fight against childhood cancer by visiting their local Firebirds restaurant June 8-10 for a glass of refreshing, house-made lemonade. In partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) and its annual Lemonade Days fundraiser, Firebirds will be selling lemonade for $3 per cup at stands outside its doors Friday, June 8 – Saturday, June 9, 11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Sunday, June 10, 11:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. All proceeds will go to ALSF.

In addition, Firebirds will donate $1 for each slice of Big Daddy Lemon Cake sold in all Firebirds restaurants. Guests may also “Round Up for a Cure,” in which they round their check up to the nearest dollar, with the difference then donated to ALSF.*

This will be Firebirds’ fifth consecutive year participating in Lemonade Days, which encourages communities to host lemonade stands to raise funds for childhood cancer research. For its highly successful lemonade stands in 2017, Firebirds was named an All Star Lemonade Days host by ALSF after raising more than $100K during its three-day summer fundraiser, an amount Firebirds aims to surpass again this year.

“Firebirds is a key partner in our fight against childhood cancer,” said Liz Scott, ALSF’s co-executive director and mom to founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996 – 2004). “Their regular and growing contributions go a long way in funding research projects at leading hospitals and institutions across the continent to cure every child of cancer, which was my daughter, Alex’s, dream.”

Fourteen years ago, Alex issued a challenge for volunteers to help raise $1 million for a childhood cancer cure – one cup of lemonade at a time. Year-round, Firebirds donates $1.25 to ALSF for each glass of lemonade sold at its restaurants. Thanks to the help of its guests, Firebirds’ donations to ALSF surpassed $1 million last year.

This year’s Managing Partner of the Year, Marlon Gammon of Columbus, Ohio, and Chef of the Year, Executive Chef Jerry Morales of Brentwood, Tenn., were honored at Firebirds’ annual conference in Orlando.

“We are fortunate at Firebirds that many of our experienced team members, like Marlon and Jerry, have been with us for years, allowing us to create a wonderful sense of family and teamwork at each location,” CEO Mark Eason said. “Guests can always tell when a restaurant’s team members work together as a seamless unit, an attribute that always comes right from the top – from our executive chefs and restaurant managers. Firebirds’ Managing Partner of the Year

Gammon is a Columbus native who grew up in Gahanna, Ohio. While still in high school, he started working in the local hospitality industry as a bar back, busser and host, then went on to hone his sauté and grill skills. Over time, Gammon took opportunities to learn all aspects of the business from the ground up and to perfect his craft.

Before joining Firebirds in 2014, Gammon was a general manager for Cheddar’s Casual Café. Prior to that, he was an assistant manager for The Cheesecake Factory, director of food and beverage for Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites and district manager for Panera Bread. He received a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University.

“Marlon has shown time and again what it takes to be one of Firebirds’ top partners, boasting terrific guest satisfaction based on social media, review sites and internal reviews,” Eason said. “Under his leadership, the restaurant has continued to foster a comfortable and engaging environment, not only for guests, but for Firebirds’ team members as well.”

A Tennessee native and 10-year Firebirds team member, Morales previously served as the executive chef at Firebirds’ Memphis restaurant, where he had also served as a sous chef. He joined Firebirds’ Memphis team as a guest assistant when he was a junior in high school, working his way up while continuing to hone his skills.

(Sept. 21, 2017) – Polished-casual restaurant Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, an Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) partner since fall 2012, has now surpassed $1 million in donations to the national childhood cancer foundation, which is dedicated to raising funds for research into new treatments and cures for children battling various cancers. Firebirds’ donations to ALSF come from the sale of freshly squeezed lemonade in its restaurants and from lemonade stands set up outside each Firebirds location during ALSF’s annual Alex’s Lemonade Days fundraiser in June.

“It is humbling and amazing to witness the support of our stakeholders and the generosity of the communities we serve,” said Firebirds CEO Mark Eason. “We plan to keep fighting against childhood cancer for as many years as it takes to beat the disease.”

ALSF was born at the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996 – 2004), who said she wanted to give her proceeds to oncologists so they could “help other kids, like they helped me.” By the time she died in 2004, Alex had raised more than $1 million toward a cure for childhood cancer. Her foundation has gone on to raise more than $150 million to research childhood cancer causes, treatments and cures. All of this was done one cup of lemonade at a time.

Year-round, Firebirds donates $1.25 per glass of freshly squeezed lemonade sold at all of its restaurants to ALSF. Starting in 2013, Firebirds also began participating in ALSF’s Alex’s Lemonade Days, putting a lemonade stand outside each of its restaurants every year for the non-profit’s annual June fundraiser.  This year’s donations from Firebirds to Alex’s Lemonade Days exceeded $100,000 – an average of $2,326 from each of Firebirds’ 43 locations. From these two efforts, Firebirds has raised an average of $200,000 per year to help make a difference in the lives of children battling cancer.

June 5, 2017 (Charlotte, N.C.) – Communities across the country are invited to help raise funds to combat childhood cancer this month by stopping by Firebirds Wood Fired Grill for a glass of its refreshing, hand-squeezed lemonade. Firebirds will sell the lemonade Friday, June 9 – Saturday, June 10, 11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Sunday, June 11, 11:30 a.m. – 8 p.m., for $3 per cup. All proceeds will go to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). Firebirds will also donate $1 per slice of Big Daddy Lemon Cake sold in all Firebirds restaurants June 1-11 and introduce “Round Up for a Cure,” where guests can round their checks up to the nearest dollar as an additional donation to ALSF.

This is Firebirds’ fourth consecutive year participating in ALSF’s annual fundraiser Alex’s Lemonade Days (ALD), which encourages communities to host lemonade stands to raise funds for childhood cancer research. Charlotte, N.C. (April 20, 2017) – Just in time for Earth Day, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is expanding its sustainability efforts to include wine cork and crayon recycling programs. Known for its extensive wine list and healthy kids menu that includes fun activities, Firebirds will soon place drop-off boxes inside each restaurant for guests and employees to deposit used wine corks and crayons.

Both natural corks and synthetic corks will be recycled, with two cents donated to forest and ocean conservation efforts for every natural cork recycled. Guests may also bring used corks and crayons from home and drop them off at the restaurant for recycling.

“The culture at Firebirds focuses on being conscious. In this case, that means keeping track of and continuously reducing our waste,” said CEO Mark Eason. “With the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimating that 30 to 40 percent of the country’s food supply is thrown out from restaurants and homes, we, as a country and as a company, must do what we can to eliminate physical waste in all forms.”

In addition to its crayon and cork recycling programs, Firebirds’ sustainability program includes:

• Sustainable Food Sourcing: Firebirds serves only sustainably raised salmon and trout to negate the risk of depletion of global fish stocks.

• Preventing Kitchen Waste: Recycling fryer oil and much of the fat drippings from cooked chicken, chicken wings and ribs reduces kitchen waste.

• Organic/Biodynamic Wines: Organic and biodynamic wines are better for the environment and closer to the earth in which the grapes are grown.

Since 2012, Firebirds has raised more than half a million dollars for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a national charity that focuses on funding research projects to find better treatments and ultimately cures for childhood cancer. In this partnership with ALSF, Firebirds donates $1 to the Foundation for every glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade it sells.

“Partnering with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is truly a humbling and special experience,” said Stephen Loftis, vice president of marketing for Firebirds. “We strive to be an integral part of our local communities by providing employment, establishing relationships and participating in civic life and invite everyone to join us in the fight against childhood cancer.”

This year marks the 12^th year since founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott issued a challenge to volunteers to help raise $1 million for a childhood cancer cure. Firebirds has taken on this challenge in working diligently towards raising funds to find a cure; one cup of lemonade at a time, served in all 38 of its locations. As one of ALSF’s notable contributors, Firebirds also participates in Alex’s Lemonade Days, the charity’s annual fundraiser that encourages communities to sell lemonade for childhood cancer research. Thanks to the help of guests, Firebirds has donated $500,805 to ALSF since the partnership began, raising $214,662 this past year.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is putting a twist on its Fresh Squeezed Lemonade. The polished casual restaurant is encouraging guests, including kids, to join them in the fight against childhood cancer by simply drinking lemonade.

Firebirds will participate for the first time in Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s (ALSF) National Lemonade Days initiative. This year commemorates 10 years since founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996 – 2004) issued a challenge to volunteers to help raise $1 million for childhood cancer cures –one cup of lemonade at a time.

All 31 Firebirds locations will host Alex’s Lemonade Stands Friday, June 6 – Sunday, June 8 from 11:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Staff, guests and children will sell Firebirds’ signature Fresh Squeezed Lemonade for $3; all proceeds will be donated to ALSF. The community is invited to participate to help Firebirds reach its goal of raising $50,000.

“With nearly 720 children diagnosed worldwide with cancer every day, the more research funds raised, the closer we are to achieving Alex’s mission of finding cures for all kids with cancer,” said Liz Scott, ALSF Co-Executive Director and Alex’s mother. “We’re thankful for Firebirds support, and hope that more children will learn that they are never too young to make a difference in the lives of others.”

Firebirds sponsors ALSF regularly to help raise funds for research and provide support for childhood cancer heroes and their families by donating $1 per glass of lemonade sold. Thanks to the help of guests, approximately $200,000 has been donated to ALSF to date.

With the support of Firebirds’ guests, the companies donated $2,722 to Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit that provides emergency and financial assistance to the families of service members and wounded warriors.

For every case of Murphy Goode’s Homefront Red Wine that was sold, Firebirds donated $6 to Operation Homefront.The donation will specifically provide emergency financial support and holiday meal programs.

Wichita natives Dennis Thompson and Doug Glendenning will open their first Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in Kansas on Monday, Oct. 7 at The Waterfront in Wichita. Known for its’ Classic American cuisine infused with bold flavors, fresh herbs and spices, the menu specializes in aged steaks, fresh seafood, chicken and ribs seared over a wood fired grill.

Thompson, who cofounded Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon and was an original owner of Fox and Hound Bar & Grill, was the creative mind and started Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in 2000 with Glendenning, former president of Lone Star. As a current resident of Charlotte where Firebirds is headquartered, Thompson also spent several years in Colo. where he drew from his dining experiences to develop the food and flair of Firebirds.
